Axial compressive behavior of laminated bamboo lumber columns with a chamfered section

The axial compressive behavior of laminated bamboo lumber (LBL) columns with a chamfered section was investigated using 15 specimens lengths varying from 600 mm to 3000 mm; all considered samples had same square cross 100 × 10 chamfers at each corner. Axial compression tests were carried out analyze the impact slenderness ratios on failure modes, strain and ultimate bearing capacity LBL columns. Two modes observed i.e. buckling failure. Obtained results vertical load showed downward trend increase in ratios; correlation between strain, fitted. approximate solution method adopted reveal lateral deflections by quartic functional model. Based ideal elastic–plastic constitutive model Hill criterion, FEM simulate tests. simulation agreed well both test theoretical results, which verified feasibility proposed methods used under similar working conditions this paper.
